It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate. ###Minimum age:::17 Years old###Assessment:::Continuous assessment###Certification:::On a successful completion of the course an RYA Advanced Powerboat Course Completion Certificate will be issued.     Using our Coded Twin engine RIB, it has Shock Mitigation seats, the latest Garmin Touchscreen Chartplotters a 12 inch and a 9 inch, Power Steering and the latest Garmin Fantom RADAR.

    Passage Planning and Pilotage, interpretation of Navigation at different speeds, along with IRPCS, using all available means will be the main feature topped up with the remaining parts of the RYA Advanced Powerboat course syllabus.

    ****Using the Garmin 'ActiveCaptain' App which is installed on our classroom Apple ipads, learn how to construct a Waypoint Passage Plan in the classroom on the iPad then take it to the the Powerboat and transfer the Passage Plan wirelessly direct to both of the Chartplotters on the Powerboat, the iPad is now no longer needed.


    RADAR Operation.

    Night Driving Session
    ****Currently we are providing an additional Passage Planning and Night Driving session the day before the RYA Advanced Powerboat course starts so that you can familiarise yourself with the area, the Powerboat, Chartplotters, RADAR as well as the local waters.

    The session will commence the day before the RYA Advanced Powerboat course.  

    You will be able to produce a waypoint Passage Plan using Conventional Charts and Digital Charts whilst familiarising yourself with the Garmin Fantom RADAR on the water.

    Pilotage
